I had a care conference at Bridgeview Health Care today, almost 6 months after the last one where they were talking about detoxing my Mom, but never followed up.  Today they had 5 employees in on the conference, compared to May which had only the nurse and coordinator.  Today there was a social worker, 2 restorative nurses, the floor nurse and one other lady (not sure her function).  I asked about the detox plan, was told she was not accepted to the program at the 2 hospitals in Chicago they tried to get her into.  I asked why and was told she is not a harm to herself or others to a degree that would accept her, so basically she is not bad enough.  They right away started on her poor safety awareness, and how she doesn’t listen to directions.  Both of these issues are not new or a surprise.  They said she wants everything right away and is mad when she doesn’t get it.  Again, not new.  I understand this is a bad situation – she cannot walk, she is frustrated and wants a walker and thinks they are mean they won’t give her one — they cannot as she falls.  They are trying to do what they can while taking care of the other residents.  It is a bad situation for all involved.  What else is there to say…
